Can Making
Detailed can planning is about coordinating the availability of decorated plate and components to meet customer demand. One of the many features that we have added to CanPlan is to allow the planner to split orders coming in from ERP/MRP systems, into smaller batches. This gives more flexibility in manufacturing but also allows the same order to be linked partly to a print order and partly to decorated plate stock.

This is a particular market for our Planning Tools and illustrates how general planning solutions can be so closely matched to the business that Suilven Associates decide to develop for a particular market with particular needs.

Slitting
In some businesses slitting is decoupled from can making. In these situations, planning the slitting process is essential to ensure the smooth flow of decorated tin plate to can lines.

Component Making
For some sites, component planning becomes as important as can planning. This is especially true when dealing with components made from recovered blanks and composite components.
Despatches
With such a focus on the manufacturing operations, we often lose sight of how much of the Supply Chain time and stock is in the control of the Despatch department, With computerised scheduling systems surrounding despatch, it becomes possible to give them a much better forward indication of when and where loads have to be sent.

And with a Connec+ link to the customer site, order priority becomes more evident.
