Using Connec+ as a link between Customers and Suppliers

 
Connect linking customers and suppliers        
Both customer and supplier see this screen showing information about their orders. Our one client, the 'Customer' is using PrintPlan to create orders and our other client, 'the Supplier', is also using PrintPlan to plan the orders. As each order is created by the customer, Connec+ is automatically transmitting these updates to the appropriate supplier and as each order is put onto the lines for coating, printing, slitting and pressing, Connec+ is sending the progress information back to the corresponding customer. Messages can also be sent between each site and are held for the duration of the order until it is completed where it is then sent to history. The user is automatically notified when updates and messages come in.

Using Connec+ between Planning Cells

An example from Perception PrintPlan, where the planner can see the gap between the completion of his work and the start of can making.

The print planner, or any other planner for that matter, cannot work in isolation. The purple lines and arrows on this part of the plan, show when the decorated plate is due on a component press or can line. These links are set up by the downstream planner and can be made hard or soft. Hard links actually push back can making jobs on the slitting or can schedule if printing is late. A soft link will only warn the next planner in the chain.

This graphical visibility prompts people to take early action to avoid potential problems.

Working Away From The Desk

           

There is constant pressure on the Supply Chain to produce smaller batches to a shorter lead time. Product life times are getting shorter and the whole Supply Chain is being driven more and more by volatile consumer demand.

Suilven Associates are continually developing technical solutions that will allow all this to happen, without overloading key individuals in the chain. More and more, the scheduling systems will manage by exception and so our software is now available for PDAs and Smart Phones to allow planners and others to work away from their desks.
